Daniel looked over his shoulder toward the backseat of the car. Tracy was sound asleep. Susan-the mother of Tracy’s friend who had the slumber party-called early the next morning to tell them Tracy woke up not feeling very good.

Cam and Daniel left the house around eight to get their little girl and take her to her pediatrician. Daniel had spoken with Joe before they went and the teen said he and Sharon would stay at the house until they brought Tracy home.

It turned out Tracy had the chicken pox. Daniel grimaced at the thought. He vaguely remembered having the chicken pox when he was seven, a year before his parents died.

He turned to look at the man driving. Cam hadn’t said a whole lot since they got up. “So you –you know- with Vala?”

“What?” Cam looked over at Daniel. “No, I did not -you know- with Vala.”

“Then how come your mom said it was okay under her roof?” Daniel made a quick check to make sure Tracy was still asleep even though they weren’t actually the words.

“Vala made my parents think we were together,” Cam said. “Why are we having this conversation?”

Daniel shrugged. “Just trying to get you to talk.”

“I didn’t think you wanted to talk to me,” Cam said.

“Just because I don’t think you handled things with Joe very well yesterday doesn’t mean I’m going to be so petty as to not speak to you,” Daniel reached over and squeezed Cam’s right hand.

They pulled into the driveway a few minutes later. Daniel got out and went to the backseat picking up Tracy. She mumbled a little, but to Daniel’s relief didn’t wake up. She would be itching and complaining soon enough. He carried her inside and was met by Joe with Sharon close behind him.

“She’s sleeping now,” Daniel whispered. They had called ahead to make sure Sharon had had the chicken pox before. Joe had had them when he was eight before his and Tracy’s parents had died.

Cam followed Daniel into Tracy’s room. They continued to luck out getting her into bed without her waking.

When they walked out into the hall Daniel’s cell phone rang. Cameron listened to Daniel’s side of the conversation and frowned. A minute later Daniel turned off his phone. “Don’t tell me you have to go to the mountain.”

Daniel grimaced. “Sorry. A team is trapped offworld and the rescue team needs someone to do some translating.”

“No offense, but you’re not the only one who can do translations and they do have computer programs for Gua’uld and Ancient,” Cam said.

“They’re a little short this week and this is a different language,” Daniel explained.

“Great, Joe’s going to leave as soon as you do. He’s not my biggest fan at the moment,” Cam responded.

“I’ll talk to him before I go,” Daniel said. “It’ll be fine,” Daniel gave Cam a quick kiss.

Cam walked back into the living room where Joe and Sharon were. He gave them a tentative smile. Taking a deep breath he charged ahead. “Look, I know I was an ass yesterday. I just wish we knew you had met someone before bringing her home and introducing her as your fiancée,” Cameron said sitting in a chair across from them.

“Mr. Mitchell,” Sharon began.

“No Sharon,” Joe cut in. “You’re right, Cam, I should have told you about Sharon months ago,” Joe said.

“I realize I’m probably not going to talk you out of this,” Cam said. “I’d just like you to consider waiting until you’ve finished school.”

“We will, Mr. Mitchell,” Sharon wrapping her arm around Joe’s giving it a tug which garnered her an annoyed look from Joe.

“All right,” Joe relented. “We’ll consider it.”

“Cam,” a small voice spoke from the stairs interrupting them.

Cam got up and met Tracy at the top of the stairs. “Hey sweetie, how’re you feeling?” He picked her up and kissed her temple.

“Itchy,” she pouted.

“I’ll bet. Want to come down and see your brother and meet his girlfriend?” He wasn’t quite prepared to say fiancée just yet.

“Joe’s here?” Her eyes widened in excitement.

“Yep,” Cam smiled carrying Tracy down the stairs.
